Slate is commonly used as tile in both residential and commercial applications due to both its versatility and its aesthetics. Slate has a distinctive, naturally clefted surface giving it an earthy texture and slip resistance.

Slate is also known for its decorative color variations; ranging in color from shades of gray to brown, purple, green, or cyan, and even taking on rusty hues. With such a huge variety of colors slate is used in both modern and rustic settings, from the walls of popular fitness centers, to the fireplaces of cabins and lake homes.

At Stone Source, all of our slates come from quarries in both Northern and Southern India. We have a variety of interesting and unique mosaics in slate that complement our tile. We also bring in slate planking. Planking is newer design concept, coming in pieces 6" wide by 12", 24", 36, & 48" long. These pieces are put together in a pattern or at random, and imitate the long planks of a wood floor, but in stone tile.
