Travertine tiles is one of our most popular choices for flooring. Travertine can come in a variety of sizes – from 1x1 mosaics to 24x36 tiles and pavers. The color range of travertine is from light creams to deep golds and chocolate browns. The most popular finish for tiles is a honed or matte finish. A tumbled or chiseled edge travertine creates an old-world feel, while a polished travertine gives an elegant look. Some of our travertine tiles are vain-cut to expose the wavy/linear patterns of the stone beds. The small cavities that are inherent in all travertine are typically filled with grout or resin to create a smoother surface, but can be left unfilled in many applications to add interest and texture.
Travertine derives it's name from the town of Tivoli, Italy, known as Tibur in Roman times. The ancient name
for stone was lapis tiburtinus, meaning stone of Tibur. Tiburtinus slowly evolved into Travertine. Italy
is famous for it's travertine, the Colosseum in Rome is one of the many monuments & buildings made of it.

Travertine has natural pores and cavities which create an open and pitted texture and give the stone an aged
and weathered look. Travertine also may be filled and polished to a smooth, shinier finish. The colors of travertine
